Sigiriya is one of the most famous and attractive places in Sri Lanka. The height of the rock is around 200 meters. According to the history of Sri Lanka, this rock was used as a kingdom in Sri Lanka by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. This rock is one of the UNESCO heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Sigiriya consists of all the features of the kingdom, such as flower gardens, lakes, caves, etc. According to the Mahawansha (main Chronicle of Sri Lanka), King Ashyapa built his kingdom in Sigiriya to protect his brother, King Mihidu. But legend says that King Kashyapa subsided during the war between his brothers. Sigiriya provides evidence for the great technologies in ancient Sri Lanka. Several ponds are located at the top of Sigiriya. Water for this water garden comes from the underground pipe system. This system is also active in the rainy season.
The mirror wall is the face of the rock polished as the mirror. On this wall, people who visit Sigiriya wrote thousands of poems to describe their experiences. Those are describing the beauty of the drawings. These poems were written in an ancient language in Sri Lanka.
